Follow a structure to answer the question

  1. Clarify the objective of the question
  2. State your approach upfront
  3. Identify the User and prioritize them
  4. Layout the user journey, it will be helpful to identify the use cases or pain points
  5. State User’s pain points
  6. List down solutions/features
  7. Prioritize your solution
  8. State MVP features, Tradeoffs, Success metrics and Summarize

State all the primary Users, secondary users and other stakeholders. i.e. while designing a digital assistant for students, students will be primary users, parents will be secondary users, and school admins will be other stakeholders.

Try to come up with as many user segments as you can using their Demographics(Age, Gender, Income, Education etc.), Psychographics(Beliefs, Values, Pain Points etc.), Geographics(Region, City, Community etc.) and Behaviour(Hobbies, Habits, Digital Media usage etc.)

Try to come up with end to end broad user journey; It will help you to come up with Use cases/ Pain points of Users.

Mention at least one Moonshot(100x) solution (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality etc.) to signal the interviewer your creative thinking style; you can, anyways, prioritize your solution in the end.

Don’t just ask questions but collaborate with the interviewer to seek any other related information regarding the question. Have a thought process behind any question you wish to ask the interviewer. Don’t ask just for the sake of asking.
